COVID Symptoms and Testing

If your child has any COVID or Flu-like symptoms: 1) Keep your child home 2) Call the school and tell us what symptoms your child is experiencing 3) Have your child PCR tested—we must have proof of a negative PCR test before your child can return to school.

Rapid Antigen tests are good for surveillance testing and are considered accurate if a person with symptoms tests positive. If a person with symptoms tests negative with a rapid antigen test, there needs to be a supporting negative PCR test prior to returning to campus.

COVID-19 Testing & Tracing in Sonoma County

I understand this is all very confusing and feels like things are constantly changing. I appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep everyone safe. Please see the website or the attached documents for more information.

Attendance and Late Arrivals

Late arriving students MUST check into the office for a health screening prior to going to class. Either walk your child to the office or call (leave a message if no answer) so we can make sure your child is screened and accounted for.

Safety Drills

Beginning next week, we will be having site-wide, monthly safety drills (fire, earthquake and lockdown). I know for some children drills can cause stress or anxiety. I will post the type of drill and dates in our weekly bulletin so you can have discussions at home ahead of time if needed.

Extended Care Rate Increasing to $6 per hour

After 14 years, we are having to increase our hourly rate for extended care. This dollar increase will be reflected in the invoice you will receive in early October. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me if cost is a concern.

Important–VCS Phone Number

Our VCS office number is (707) 524-2848.  Please note that it is connected to the broader NWP phone system and you have to dial the number directly each time. If you do a “call back” or redial, you will be connected to the NWP main office.

Miss Malika would like a donation of a large bag of apples to make apple sauce.

Appreciations

From Miss Malika—I would like to extend my gratitude to Chris Maccario for the donation of soil and time. Our garden looks beautiful! And to Eva Acker for washing my classroom windows (inside and out)—THANK YOU!
