Hello VCS 7\/8 families!<\/p>\n

I have a few spring updates.  <\/p>\n

Valentine’s Potluck<\/strong>: The Middle School Valentine’s Day Pot Luck will be held on Friday, February 13th.<\/strong> Homemade goods are particularly encouraged! Please visit the link the Google History\n Classroom if your student would like to contribute. It is not required!<\/p>\n

Conferences:<\/strong> Teacher Conferences will run through February. As we do not have minimum days during any specific week, I will be arranging meetings from 3:40 to 5:00 throughout this month. Let me know if you would\n like a conference and which days would work best for you. Conferences are optional unless I find it prudent to your student’s success to have one. In such cases I will be reaching out in a separate email. Students\n are welcome to attend these conferences, but it is not required. <\/p>\n

Spelling Bee<\/strong>: Congratulations to our spelling bee winners! We appreciate how supportive the community was of the event. <\/p>\n

Library<\/strong>: Finally, we will be returning to the library tomorrow, as we do every third Tuesday. <\/p>\n

Hi everyone, <\/p>\n

I hope you enjoyed our Fall Festival! It was great seeing so many of our families. I have a few updates about the coming weeks:<\/p>\n

We are going to start working on knitting scarves for Winter Solstice soon. If you have spare knitting needles or yarn you’re willing to donate, we could use them! Needles that are at least 6mm (US size 10) and up are preferred,\n and yarn that is worsted weight or thicker. Any colors are great. <\/p>\n

An increasing number of students are coming to school without pencils lately. Check in with your child and see if they need a new box. Although we keep spares in the classroom for emergencies, students are expected to maintain their\n own supply of pencils.  <\/p>\n

Hi everyone,<\/p>\n

By now, you’ve probably heard that this year our school is celebrating a Fall Festival and Pumpkin Walk. <\/p>\n

As suggested by the name, we are in need of pumpkins! We are looking for at least one per student, plus 12 extras we can carve with our “little buddies” in Anna’s class. If you are able to send extras we would be very grateful. They\n can be of any carveable size. We would also appreciate extra carving saws, like those found in Pumpkin Master kits.<\/p>\n

We can take them at any time between now and next Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Greetings Middle School Families!<\/p>\n

Tomorrow will be our first trip to the library. We will depart at 9:50am and will be back by 12:20pm. We will be taking the route 6 City bus to the central library in downtown Santa Rosa. <\/p>\n

If your student has a library card, please remind them to bring it with them. If they have an account but no card, we should be able to look them up. <\/p>\n

Finally, a reminder that if your student has a cell phone it must be turned off and stored in their backpacks at all times.<\/p>\n

Dear VCS families,<\/p>\n

I hope you’re all having a great start to the school year! I’m writing to share a few important dates and reminders for September.<\/p>\n

Parent Night: <\/strong>We will be holding our annual Parent Night on Thursday, September 18th, at 6:30 PM<\/strong>. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our curriculum and meet other parents.<\/p>\n

Planned Absences:<\/strong> If you know your student will be absent from school for a planned event (e.g., a family trip, medical appointment), please let me and<\/em> Carolyn know in advance. This helps us\n ensure your student doesn’t fall behind.<\/p>\n

Picture Day:<\/strong> School Picture Day is on Wednesday, September 17th<\/strong>. The deadline for ordering pictures is October 15th<\/strong>, and no late orders can be accepted.<\/p>\n

Walker Creek Ranch:<\/strong> Rebecca sent out an email earlier today about Walker Creek; she will also be at our parent night to speak about the matter further. We will be at the Ranch from October 7th to the 10th.<\/p>\n

Emergency Contact Papers:<\/strong> There are still some students missing required paperwork. We are sending out physical packets with those students today. We would appreciate their hasty return!<\/p>\n
