RESOLUTION REGARDING SUFFICIENCY OR INSUFFICIENCY OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whereas, the governing board of The Village Charter School, in order to comply with the requirements of Education Code<\/em> Section 60119 held a public hearing on 9\/10\/25, at 4:00 PM, which is on or before the eighth week of school (between the first day that students attend school and the end of the eighth week from that day) and which did not take place during or immediately following school hours, and;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whereas the governing board provided at least 10 days\u2019 notice of the public hearing posted in at least three public places within the district that stated the time, place, and purpose of the hearing, and;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whereas, the governing board encouraged participation by parents, teachers, members of the community, and bargaining unit leaders (if the district or county office has a bargaining unit) in the public hearing, and;<\/strong><\/p>\n

FOR A FINDING OF SUFFICIENT INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whereas information provided at the public hearing and to the governing board at the public meeting detailed the extent to which textbooks and instructional materials were provided to all students, including English learners, in the district\/county office of education, and;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whereas, the definition of \u201csufficient textbooks or instructional materials\u201d means that each pupil has a textbook or instructional materials, or both, to use in class and to take home, and;<\/strong><\/p>\n

NOTE: The definition of sufficient textbooks or instructional materials no longer includes the phrase \u201cto complete required homework assignments.\u201d Students must now be able to take their instructional materials home.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whereas, sufficient textbooks and instructional materials were provided to each student, including English learners, that are aligned to the academic content standards and<\/strong>\n <\/strong>consistent with the cycles and content of the curriculum frameworks in the following subjects: Mathematics, Science, History-social science, English\/language arts, Health <\/strong><\/p>\n

Bathroom Lease: Ian is our contact, Rebecca is suggesting that they donate the building which Ian agreed was a good idea and no contact has been made since. Scott is looking at tiling the bathroom, installing an electric fan, and an awning – a summer project<\/strong><\/p>\n

School Lease: YMCA is leaving campus, Rebecca has put in a request to add those buildings to our lease if they come available<\/strong><\/p>\n

After interviewing 3 candidates, the committee recommends that we offer teaching positions to Rachel Curtis (to be a preliminary credential in induction program)  and Matt Heath (to be an intern in the teaching program) to work with the 4, 5, 6 grades<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stacey: Will these teachers have space to work in the extra curricular type activities such as PE and garden and music? Yes, there will be a schedule for working with the community as we have now.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rebecca- to compare from the Waldorf type pledge, it just encourages lying. We are comfortable sharing the research on the matter to educate parents while leaving them free to choose.<\/p>\n

Scott- support weaving the path with technology- building on the messages given to older students, put the message into the classroom<\/p>\n

Attendance and Tardy goal has not improved nor gotten worse (Independent study is to be completed at school and after school to better meet missed minutes under the direction of teacher)- this will affect our ability to receive funds for student absence<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesse asks, what can we do policy wise to improve student attendance? Rebecca will look at other charter school\u2019s policies regarding attendance to write into our charter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jeffrey asks if people can opt to pay rather than having their child do independent study? This would be legal but not entirely ethical or equally accessible.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Third Goal is related to Arts due to incoming funds (Prop 28 $): use funds to bring in support persons to build on and grow our Multicultural arts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kristen gave an update on Parent-Teacher conferences; Kristen shared positive feedback on Aztec dancers and is hoping that VCS can continue to bring in community members to support and enhance the education around our cultural\n events; Kristen gave an update on Ashley’s first VCS Farmers Market It was a great success!<\/p>\n

Rebecca reported that things are going well and in general are quiet right now. September has several deadlines for funding reports. Rebecca will be exploring how to train teachers\/staff re fentanyl and gender dysphoria. Jesse\n offered to get staff trained in 1st Aid\/Stop the Bleed and will get back to Rebecca about possible scheduling. Rebecca reported that our fundraising is on track with just over $37,000 raised to date.<\/p>\n
