It’s time to start planning for the Village Charter School’s 8th <\/strong>Annual Creek Clean-a-Thon on Saturday, April 23th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Have a special passion for our school’s environmental mission? Want to help spread the word about our commitment to environmental education and community? Once again, we have a very special opportunity to support our children’s environmental awareness and education WHILE serving our larger Santa Rosa community AND raising critical funds. All while having tons of fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through this event, in just the last eight years, our students and community have cleared 2,430 <\/strong>POUNDS of trash from Santa Rosa\u2019s creeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We are asking students, their families, and our VCS community to participate in three ways:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. RAISE DONATIONS<\/strong>:\u00a0Ask your family and friends to support our creek cleanup work through donations. If each student manages just $100 in donations, we can easily reach our goal of $10,000 for our school! JOIN TOGETHER:<\/strong>\u00a0We are looking for local Community\/Business sponsors who would be interested in making a tax-deductible donation toward our event (and having their business featured in our event promotions and on our event tee shirts). Governor Newsom\u2019s recent press release included a time schedule for changes to indoor masking requirements for schools.\u00a0As of March 12th, masking \u201crequirements\u201d will be replaced with \u201crecommendations\u201d for all schools in California.<\/span>\u00a0Cal OSHA will likely align with this change as well. \n\n\n\nMasking Guidelines<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The statewide school indoor mask mandate will expire for all students, regardless of vaccination status, at the end of the day on Friday, March 11.
\u2022 Monday, March 14 will be the first school day of school with no state requirement.
\u2022 County public health officers and local education agencies\u00a0may<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0still impose rules more stringent than the state.
We await further information on mitigation recommendations and quarantine requirements from the CDPH and Sonoma County Public Health Department. It is our understanding that Dr. Mase does not anticipate exercising any additional restrictions beyond the state’s guidelines as long as there are no significant changes to metrics and conditions.
The one exception is that non-boosted school workers must continue to wear a surgical mask or respirator in indoor workplace settings. That will include all school staff, as well as\u00a0volunteers<\/u><\/em> and contractors, who have not received their booster COVID shot once they are eligible.
