➤ LAST CHANCE – Farm to Table Fundraiser – Under the Oaks

Today, Friday, is the last day to buy tickets for our fundraiser dinner! Join us for live music featuring our own VCS community members, amazing silent auction items, and a delicious Sonoma County farm to table menu. We have just a few tickets remaining so don’t miss this chance to enjoy an adults-only night out and support VCS! $50 per person includes dinner and one beverage (wine, beer, and mocktails).
Schoolhouse Reserve Pinot Noir, Real Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, vinted & bottled in Sonoma County by Jo’s Dad (Ashley’s Class). The fruit, glass, corks, labels, and cellar were all donated — so every dollar goes straight to VCS. This is also the wine poured at dinner as your one included beverage. Bottles bought here are picked up at the event. Need cases shipped, or bottles for locals who can’t make the dinner? Order from the Schoolhouse Reserve store.
➤ Spelling Bee 🐝
More information and competition dates coming soon! But in the meantime…
This year, the Bee launched the Spelling Bee Resource Center, a brand-new hub for parents and families of spellers. Parents can now create accounts and log directly into spellingbee.com to download study lists themselves, simplifying the process for spelling bee preparation at home. The platform will also feature exclusive, dynamic content throughout the year, including word games and study tips, to help spellers dive deeper into the material and prepare for competition.

➤ Parking/Traffic
Thank you to everyone who is being patient and kind when dealing with our parking/traffic struggles at pick up and drop-off. I know the situation is difficult and often very frustrating. We are looking at some signage and other things that could help on a small scale, but there is no big fix in the works that addresses the reality of our location and parking lot size. Keep doing the things you can do–car pool, bike, city bus, arrive early or later in the afternoon, be patient, follow the rules, slow down, etc. Thank you!
➤ BIKE REMINDERS!
Slow down on the path to the school!
You MUST WALK your bike once you enter the parking lot in front of the school.
Walk your bike in the cross walk.
Go with the directional flow of traffic.
➤ Garden Classroom
Village students LOVE to eat in Garden Class! Every week they gobble up delicious garden snacks. They have requested that I start sharing their recipes with families so they don’t have to wait til the end of the year (when journals go home) to make them at home.
This week, they harvested potatoes and basil for this yummy snack.
Here’s this week’s recipe:
Pesto Potatoes or Zucchini
3 TB Pumpkin Seeds
1 Clove Garlic
1/2 Lemon – juiced
1 1/2 TB Nutritional Yeast
OR Parmesan Cheese
1 cup Basil
1/4 cup Olive Oil
Salt
Blend together in a food processor.
Add to Sautéed Potatoes or Zucchini
*This is a 1/2 recipe, feel free to double or triple!*
