At the Village Charter School we believe ALL our youth must be educated, so education must be broad enough, deep enough and diverse enough to embrace every child, each with his or her individual personality, abilities, challenges and background.

We strive to achieve a diverse student body, and value students of all cultures — gender, socio-economic, abilities, race, ethnicity, etc. We strive to educate the whole child physically, emotionally, socially and academically at the child’s developmental and age appropriate level within a multi-age setting, which fosters appreciation of diversity in an environment that includes everyone.

Our unique curriculum focuses on providing a multicultural, whole world education and encouraging the feelings of joy built around personal and social responsibility.

Family Involvement

The Village Charter School embraces the philosophy that it takes a village to raise a child. Together, the parents, faculty, staff and Board of Directors operate and govern our school. We rely on our parent body to contribute to all aspects of school community life, and parents are expected to volunteer time to help according to their skills, time and abilities, as well as the needs of the school.

Active and consistent participation is asked of every family and adds to the diversity and richness of the curriculum and life of the school. There are myriad ways for parents to be involved, from assisting in the classroom, to fundraising, to helping govern our school.

Two Year Kindergarten Program

At the Village Charter School we believe that childhood is not a race, but rather a time to be cherished. Our two year kindergarten supports children to develop at their own unique rate, rather than to be pushed to perform before they are developmentally ready. When children are gifted this time to come to concepts as they are ready, they are more confident in their abilities and in turn carry this confidence into other areas of their development. All children enrolled at the Village Charter School are gifted this time in our two year kindergarten program unless otherwise determined through educational review.
